Gjerrild-Ryomgaard - Rail Trail
The Ryomgaard-Gjerrild-Grenaa Railway operated from 1911 to 1956. The rail trail was overgrown for 50 years, but is now a lovely and very tranquil cycle and hiking route.

The North Sea Nature Park route runs through the beautiful old dune landscape. Try to describe the colour of the heather or add words to the song of the lark as you ride along. Find edible mushrooms and Nordic herbs. You may see a red deer appear suddenly in front of you before it hurries on into the plantation.

It is no exaggeration to call this route world-class, because Stevns Klint has a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list. You will encounter fascinating sights all along the route, including the fishing village of Rødvig, the Stevnsfort Cold War Museum, Højerup Old Church and Stevns Lighthouse to name just a few. There is clifftop drama here for everyone.

Although this section is relatively short, a very diverse experience awaits around Denmark’s eighth largest lake which is located in the Maribo Lakes Nature Park.
Start the route with a cultural experience at Maribo Cathedral. If the cathedral bells ring unexpectedly, do not be surprised. They sound at sunrise and sunset as well as at 10 am, 12 noon, 2 pm and 5 pm.

Kerteminde - Regional Route 41+42 (30,03 km)
The peninsula of Hindsholm north of Kerteminde is one of Denmark’s most picturesque areas. The only downside is a road with some traffic, so remember to bring a helmet.
The route is about 57 kilometres long and only a couple of kilometres are on unpaved roads.

This route is relatively short with only 24 paved kilometres, but there is much to see along the way. No need to bring bicycles as these can be rented in Kerteminde.
Set aside a few hours to see the highlights of Kerteminde before venturing out onto the route. The harbour is atmospheric. Visit the Johannes Larsen Museum which is housed in the Funen painter’s home on Møllebakken.

Odense-Svendborg - Regional Route 55 (59,61 km)
Sailing, workhouse, fairy-tale castle, Ice Age, open-air museum, giraffes... This family-friendly route offers many and very different experiences.
The hill down towards Svendborg Sound has been the site of a beautiful maritime town since the 13th century. Take time to have a look around before starting the route. Maybe a trip on the water if the youngest members of the family have sufficiently strong sea legs?

Rudkøbing-Lohals-Spodsbjerg is a 72-kilometre-long scenic circular route of which 67 kilometres are paved roads. The remaining five are good gravel roads. The route starts in the largest town on Langeland. Rudkøbing Pharmacy is particularly famous: This is HC Andersen's birthplace. Today it is a very well-preserved museum offering a wealth of jars with odd medicines for visitors to shiver at.

People on the island of Ærø love cycling and it is easy to understand why. Attractive villages, atmospheric harbours, fantastic scenery and wonderful beaches make the route around the island ideal for families.
Start the trip by walking around the market town with its cobbled streets, small squares and many listed buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
